KRI ATA Policy ATA APP 1011:

L2 Requirement for ATA Candidates in International Outreach Locations

Some areas of the world do not have KRI level 2 teacher training courses readily available.  If the ATA Executive Director in conjunction with the Director of Professional Development and Outreach determine that an ATA applicant did not have a reasonable opportunity to take all five Level 2 modules in their local area over the last three years, they may designate that area a “Developing Outreach Area”.

For such Developing Outreach Areas the following Policy will apply regarding the Level 2 requirement for ATA members:

  1. Intern Applicants:  the requirement is amended to a minimum of two Level Two Modules including a plan to complete the remaining modules.   (There may be exceptions where one Level Two will be allowed and that would be determined by Executive Director and Director of Professional Development and Outreach on a case by case basis.)
  2. Associate Candidates:  the requirement to have all 5 Level Two Modules is amended to a minimum of three Level Two Modules including a plan to complete the remaining modules.   (There may be exceptions where 2 Level Two modules will be allowed and that would be determined by Executive Director and Director of Professional Development and Outreach on a case by case basis.)
  3. Professional Candidates:   no change, all 5 Level Two modules required.

The Developing Outreach Areas as of October 2017 are:

  1. Africa
  2. South America
  3. Central America
  4. Czech Republic
  5. Poland
  6. Russia
  7. Israel
  8. India
  9. China/Taiwan
  10. Dubai
